Me looking through my ships and timelines and realising so many of them were done dirty either through premature cancellation, killing off of characters, or storylines not being done justice (or any combination thereof). Clearly I have a type 🤔🥲

Okay so I went and saw Les Mis 2012 yesterday and let me tell you seeing George Blagden's big beautiful face on screen was absolutely worth the agony I experienced every time Hugh Jackman began to sing

Okay, wow this post is blowing up again (oh boy, the consequences of my actions) so I think I should clear a few things up.
First of all, I absolutely LOVE the 2012 film, it holds a very special place in my heart for being the thing that got me into Les mis in the first place and even if there are some moments I giggle at, I do still enjoy it! In the reblogs, I think the idea has been misconstrued that I hate the film, I DONT!!
Second, I genuinely had no intention of blaming the actors for their performances (in fact, I didn't actually reference any other actors in the film, and there are many that I feel did brilliant jobs despite the conditions), and I was only really referring to Hugh Jackman within the context of the film.
I was actually largely aware of how much of a lunatic tom hooper was, and already disagreed with so many of his directoral choices. On this note, I do have my own personal (very unpopular) opinion that is I simply don't like Hugh jackmans voice! (And, with foresight, I would have prefaced my post with that, but I really thought it would just get a couple of likes and nothing else would come of it 😭 but I'm glad that it's given people room for discussion because all of you have such interesting things to say, and that's really what Tumblr is all about).
But anyway, my intention was not to blame him personally, or to comment on his ability outside of the film. He definitely didn't get those Tony's for nothing. It's more of a reflection of how he comes across without context, wildly biased by my personal dislike of his voice already (this is not commenting on his technique outside of Les mis please don't rip me to shreds). It's a personal choice, like how some people can't stand Colm Wilkinson's voice. I know I'm in the minority here (I think I wrongly assumed more people would agree lol), and this response probably seems like a huge overreaction, but I really don't want to come across as hateful and ignorant.
I feel that a lot of the reblogs are getting the wrong side of things, and I know it really sounds like I'm being an asshole for no reason, so I really want this to come off loud and clear. I'm sorry for not thinking my post through, that is definitely my fault, but please please don't let this give you an impression of me as ignorantly slamming actors and the film for no reason. I'm not that kind of person, I know my shit, I just personally am not much of a fan of hugh jackmans voice. You're more than welcome to disagree with me (you would certainly not be alone in that /lh), but I do want to make it clear that I'm not just an asshole, so please consider that in your evaluation of my post x
Forced my family to watch les mis (2012) with me yesterday. Half way through, we're watching Huge Jackman sing bring him home and my dad goes "who let him be this bad?"

On the subject of movie musicals, I recently rewatched some clips of the Les Mis movie with the news of the rerelease. I think most of the performances range from decent to great. Russell Crowe's Javert is not good, but is not the worst thing in the movie.
Hugh Jackman's Jean Valjean, however, is genuinely one of the worst performances I have ever heard in a movie musical. I don't think Tom Hooper did him any favors, but I genuinely do not think Hugh Jackman can sing the role at all. And I like most of Hugh Jackman's musical performances too! But I absolutely can not stand his Jean Valjean, it doesn't work for me.
